Massachusetts Highlights the Disturbing prevalence of Domestic violence and Homicides in the State.
In 2023, 19 people, mostly women, were killed by intimate partners. This averages around 18 domestic violence homicides per year over the past decade. In Massachusetts, about 36% of women have been victims of domestic violence.
- Nearly half of women in the US have experienced intimate partner violence.
- Three-quarters of female victims were first victimized before age 25.
- One in three women has experienced severe physical violence from an intimate partner.
